Network MIMO Downlink Transmission
نویسندگان
چکیده
The effects of cooperating base stations in the downlink of an OFDM-based cellular network with frequency reuse factor one are studied. In this so-called network MIMO scenario the signals of several users are jointly processed before transmission in order to handle the unavoidable multi-user interference. We apply and study pre-processing techniques well-known from conventional MIMO scenarios in the network environment. Tomlinson-Harashima precoding offers a variety of beneficial characteristics in this setting. In terms of the achievable link capacities it outperforms linear pre-processing approaches.

Development and experimental validation of downlink multiuser MIMO-OFDM in gigabit wireless LAN systems
Multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) has been proposed as a means to improve spectrum efficiency for various future wireless communication systems. This paper reports indoor experimental results obtained for a newly developed and implemented downlink (DL) MU-MIMO orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transceiver for gigabit wireless local area network systems in the mi...
متن کاملNetwork-MIMO for downlink in-band relay transmissions
With the objective of improving the spectral efficiency and coverage homogeneity of wireless cellular systems in the downlink, we investigate how to take advantage of two promising transmission technologies envisioned in current standards: network-MIMO and relay stations (RSs). It is assumed that half-duplex RSs are deployed in a cellular system, where the duration of the relay-receive and the ...

The HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) mode of UMTS provides high data rates to the user. In this contribution comparisons, based on free space measurements, between SISO (Single Input Single Output) HSDPA and MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) HSDPA are shown. For two transmit antennas the STTD (Space-Time Transmit Diversity) mode of UMTS is used to increase the diversity order of th...
متن کاملDownlink Power Control in Massive MIMO Networks with Distributed Antenna Arrays
In this paper, we investigate downlink power control in massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) networks with distributed antenna arrays. The base station (BS) in each cell consists of multiple antenna arrays, which are deployed in arbitrary locations within the cell. Due to the spatial separation between antenna arrays, the large-scale propagation effect is different from a user to diffe...
